What is Ferrari Land?
Ferrari Land is the second Ferrari-themed park in the world and the only one in Europe. Opened on April 7, 2017 within the PortAventura World complex in Tarragona, this 75,000 square meter park represents a €100 million investment and offers a unique experience combining passion for speed, technology and racing with family entertainment.
The park is the result of a strategic agreement between PortAventura Entertainment and Ferrari, seeking to create a space where fans of the Scuderia and adrenaline lovers could experience Ferrari excitement firsthand. With meticulous theming that recreates the most iconic places in Italy and the spirit of the Prancing Horse brand, Ferrari Land is not just an amusement park, but a tribute to Enzo Ferrari's legacy and Italian excellence.
Red Force: The Star Attraction
Red Force is, without doubt, the main reason most visitors come to Ferrari Land. This vertical launch roller coaster is currently the tallest and fastest in Europe, and ranks among the most impressive in the world. Its name refers to Ferrari's nickname for the Scuderia and the raw power that characterizes its single-seaters.
Technical Specifications of Red Force
Red Force's figures are truly impressive:
- Maximum height: 112 meters - Equivalent to a 37-story building, it's the tallest tower on the entire Costa Dorada
- Maximum speed: 180 km/h reached in just 5 seconds through an electromagnetic launch system (LSM)
- Acceleration: From 0 to 180 km/h in 5 seconds - Similar to F1 acceleration
- Track length: 880 meters with a total duration of approximately 1 minute
- G-Force: Up to 1.35G during launch and vertical climb
- Climb angle: 90 degrees completely vertical
- Minimum height restriction: 140 cm to ride
The Experience of Riding Red Force
Riding Red Force is an experience difficult to describe with words. The train launches you from 0 to 180 km/h in just 5 seconds, then climbs 112 meters vertically before the breathtaking drop. Your vision blurs with speed, wind hits your face forcefully, and before your brain processes what's happening, you're already climbing.
Other Ferrari Land Attractions
While Red Force is the undisputed star, Ferrari Land offers 15 more attractions and experiences that deserve your attention:
Thrill Towers (Pole Position Challenge)
Two bounce towers that lift you to 55 meters using compressed air. Once at the top, the system releases you and you fall in freefall, bouncing several times before stopping.
Maranello Grand Race
This is a dueling coaster where two trains compete in parallel on different but simultaneous tracks. The trains represent two Ferrari F1 cars in a head-to-head race. You reach speeds of up to 75 km/h while navigating tight curves, drops and climbs.
Flying Dreams
A flying simulator that transports you on an aerial journey over Italy. Seated on a platform that moves synchronized with the video, you "fly" over Venice, Rome, Tuscany, the Dolomites, Monza and, of course, Maranello (Ferrari headquarters).
Racing Legends
An interactive dark ride where you board replicas of classic Ferrari cars and tour the brand's history. Using an interactive steering wheel, you "drive" through different eras of motorsports, from the first Ferraris of the 1950s to modern hypercars.
